Choosing a solar installer
Not an endorsement. We don't get paid by any company on this page. Prices are rough starting points taken from installer websites and comparison sites in October 2026. Review scores change every day, so check them yourself before you choose.
How to choose (whoever you pick)
- Check MCS: search the MCS installer finder. If your installer isn't MCS-certified, you can't get paid for spare power under the Smart Export Guarantee.
- Check they belong to a consumer code: for example RECC. That gives you a way to complain if things go wrong.
- Get at least three quotes: compare the price per kW and what's included, such as scaffolding, the battery size and warranties.
- Check your deposit is protected and that the workmanship warranty is insurance-backed.
- Be wary of pushy sales, "today only" prices and very large deposits.

Ask local firms for a written quote. They often cost less than the big names.
Left out: Effective Home (Effective Energy) is reported to have stopped trading in June 2026, so check first. Spirit Energy, Infinity Renewables and Aira (heat pumps) aren't listed because we couldn't confirm their prices or reviews.
