Panels should last 25 years or more. The inverter usually needs replacing after about 12 years.
Do I need to clean them?
Not often. In the UK, rain cleans panels tilted at 15 degrees or more.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. Check with your council if your home is listed, or in a conservation area or national park.
Is a battery worth it?
It can be, if you are out in the day or use a time-of-use tariff. Get quotes with and without one.
How do I find an installer?
Get at least three quotes from MCS-certified installers.
Can I get paid for spare power?
Yes, through the Smart Export Guarantee in England, Scotland and Wales. You choose the energy firm.
